Good Bye to a Dear Friend

“Shep entered our lives in February 2007.  He was in poor health and we thought we were caring for him a short while.  To our wonder, Shep cared for us for 2 ˝ years.  He was our greatest asset here, greeting everyone that entered through our doors.  He also made sure he christened their tires while the people looked around.

Shep crossed over the Rainbow Bridge Monday July 20, 2009.  He will always remain in our hearts.”

Shep's History

Shep came to the SPCA Shelter in 2007.  He had been rescued by DAWGS in Dalhart.  He had a collar imbedded in his neck when found.  He had suffered a heat stroke which caused his teeth to chatter frequently.  No one knows for sure how old Shep was but he served as the Shelter Mascot/Greeter until his death.  Some dogs he liked, some he didn’t.

When he was diagnosed with cancer in 2009, the feeling of sadness was widespread.  He always had a tail wag for everyone.  He loved treats and people food.

Shep died July 20, 2009.  He will be missed by all the staff and volunteers at the SPCA Shelter.
